In honor of tTeam USA's opening victory over Ghana in the World Cup,

… I think I'll "sing my ACCOLADES" of MY OWN soccer-history.

I played CONSTANTLY--for FUN--when I was a child and visiting family in Turkey.
I played for THREE or FOUR seasons--COMPETITIVELY--as a young adolescent in Hollywood, Florida.

In COMPETITION I was ALWAYS the LEFT-Midfielder.
I was FAST ENOUGH and "skills-TALENTED" to play offense AND defense.
The "middies" are the LINKS who/that "connect" the "ball-STOPPING" defenders (e.g./i.e. my BROTHER) to the "ball-SCORING" forwards.
(So, the "middies" are there for "ball-ADVANCING".)

(… PLEASE resist the urge to make a--SOPHOMORIC--joke about my "going BOTH ways".
